New connections from Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland and the Faroe Islands to Rotterdam strengthen Eimskip’s sailing system
As of September 1, Eimskip will add weekly calls in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on the Yellow Line. With this change, a direct connection opens from Vestmannaeyjar, South of Iceland and Tórshavn in the Faroe Islands to Rotterdam, while Reyðarfjörður, in East Iceland will be linked via transshipment in the Faroe Islands.
The transit time to Rotterdam from Reyðarfjörður and Vestmannaeyjar is only about four days, ensuring, among other things, deliveries to markets in France and the Netherlands on Tuesdays. The new connection strengthens the export of Icelandic seafood, supports the rapidly growing aquaculture sector, and enhances service for frozen and salted products.
“I am pleased with this new direct services from the Faroe Islands to Rotterdam on Fridays that will increase the services to our customers. This new connection to mainland Europe will be a great addition, especially for the salmon and fresh fish industry. It will as well improve the services for frozen and salted products. This is a positive step in the development of Eimskip‘s services and in strengthening connections to European markets through our reliable sailing system,” says Bragi Thor Marinosson, Executive Vice President of International Operations.
Eimskip's Rotterdam office has been operating since 1985, and its staff has extensive experience in comprehensive transport services, customs clearance, and forwarding. With this addition to the Yellow Line, customers can continue to rely on outstanding service and even more efficient connections to mainland Europe.
